Cottages in Österåker archipelago
Österåker is about 18 miles north-east of Stockholm. At the turn of the century the Roslagsbanan railway was built to Åkersberga, which then began to develop from a small community into a modern town. But Österåker is still very much part of the archipelago with thousands of islands and a population which doubles during the summer.
A good way of exploring the area is to take the coastal road from Åkersberga through Roslags-Kulla with a detour to Wira smithy and then up to Norrtälje. |
